Shaghayegh Haghdoust
Shagha is an Iranian filmmaker, artist and educator based in Toronto, ON. She has a BA in Digital Film and Television from Limkokwing University and a BFA in Film, Video and Integrated Media from Emily Carr University. She teaches Video Production and Media Literacy at The Cinematheque in Vancouver, BC. Shagha is a co-founder and organizer for MENA Film Festival.
As a continuous explorer, she seeks to deepen her understanding of global and social issues related to the environment, culture and identity. These stories are explored through the lens of visual storytelling and documentary filmmaking and a background in digital photography and videography spanning a decade. Filmmaking is both her practice and a tool to create art, present new ideas and to teach others.
She also works as a freelance cinematographer, editor and researcher.
